AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The Maine Association of Realtors says the number of existing single-family homes sold in the state ticked up in June.

The association says the sale of 1,937 homes represented a 2.54 percent increase from the previous June. Home values were up, too. The association says the median sales price climbed almost 11 percent in that time to $227,500.

Maine Association of Realtors president Kim Gleason says the number of sales during the first six months of the year is almost 2 percent ahead of the first six months of 2017. The association says last year was also a historically strong year for home sales in the state.

National home sales went down by 2.3 percent while prices rose by 5.2 percent to a median sales price of $279,300.
