Demi Lovato was hospitalized Tuesday for an apparent heroin overdose, after having been found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills, California, home.

TMZ first reported Tuesday afternoon, citing “law enforcement” sources, that the singer “was treated with Narcan — an emergency treatment for narcotic overdoses” at her home.

The celebrity-news site reported later Tuesday that Kerissa Webb Dunn, her aunt and charity co-director, had said the singer was “awake and responsive.”

“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy,” her spokesperson told NBC News.

There was no immediate indication what reporting had been incorrect.

Ms. Lovato has had substance abuse problems and had spent some time in a rehab-treatment center. While her last released song was called “Sober,” TMZ reported that “our sources say she’s been struggling.”

Born Demetria Devonne Lovato, the 25-year-old American singer has won an MTV Video Music Award and 13 Teen Choice Awards. She has had six of her albums make the Top 5 on the charts and hit the Top 40 singles chart with 11 hits, four of which made the Top 10 — “This Is Me,” “Skyscraper,” “Heart Attack” and “Sorry Not Sorry.”
