JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Casino revenue fell in Mississippi in June, as a hot streak at Gulf Coast casinos turned cold.

State Revenue Department figures released last week show gamblers lost $170 million statewide in June, down 3 percent from $174 million in June 2017.

Receipts fell to $97 million at the 12 coastal casinos, down 4 percent from June 2017. Those casinos had seen two months of strong increases in April and May.

Mississippi’s 16 river casinos posted winnings of $72 million, about the same as June 2017.

Revenue statewide is down less than 1 percent over the last 12 months, with Gulf Coast casinos showing a 2 percent increase and river casinos showing a 3 percent decrease.

Numbers exclude Choctaw Indian casinos, which don’t report winnings to the state.
