OPINION:
If ever there were a candidate for a failed institution, it would be the American Cancer Society and the standard of care that it supports (“New study reveals stunning results for cancer patients who opt for natural remedies,” Web, July 19). Three decades ago there were 1,500 to 1,600 people per day dying of cancer — and it is the same now. Of course the ACS is bested by the American Diabetes Association. After three decades of their standard of care and supposed prevention, more than 60 percent of the U.S. population is either diabetic or pre-diabetic. The only thing that has improved overall in those years is the amount of money to be made from these diseases.
Cancer is a very simple and primitive disease, and all oncologists know it. All cells depend on a supply of energy; when they cannot obtain it, they die, and so do you. The so-called standard of care for cancer consists of “Cut it out,” “Poison it,” or “Burn it out” (radiation). This has not changed since the 19th century. The latest very expensive Rube Goldberg approach is immunotherapy, which is tantamount to playing roulette with a system we don’t understand and probably cannot control, the immune system.
The gay community recognized the nonsense in the medical community early on and demanded a solution. Today, HIV is controlled by a variety of means, and it is because the gay political faction did not care how it was done. Today’s standard of care for cancer is so primitive and ineffective, people are lurching for whatever alternatives they can find. Until cancer is treated as a metabolic disease, not a genetic one, and a variety of treatment protocols are used you are going to have people reaching for the vitamin C whether it is effective or not.
