PEARL, Texas (AP) - A voluntary evacuation for people in about 30 homes threatened by a wildfire in a Central Texas county has been lifted.

Authorities in Coryell County say they’ve stopped the progress of a blaze that grew to about 5,000 acres (2023.47 hectares).

The Texas A&M Forest Service reports Sunday the blaze is about 35 percent contained. The fire had jumped containment Friday and began moving toward the small town of Pearl, about 55 miles (88.51 kilometers) west of Waco.

Authorities say firefighters from at least 25 departments have responded to the fire.

Forest Service official Clay Bales says crews have been hampered by people showing up and flying drones over the fire areas.
