PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A motorcyclist is in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital with injuries sustained in a crash.

Police say that a 24-year-old man from Providence was speeding at 1 a.m. Saturday when he crossed into the opposite line of traffic in Providence, hitting a car head on. The driver of the car was not hurt.

The man, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown off the motorcycle and landed over 70 feet away.



Authorities say his injuries are significant and are largely in his head and legs.
