Mississippi firefighter expected to recover from burns

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi firefighter is recovering from burns received while battling a house fire.

Jackson Division Fire Chief Cleotha Sanders tells WAPT-TV that the unnamed firefighter was injured early Monday morning in northwest Jackson.

Sanders says the firefighter was hospitalized in intensive care but is expected to fully recover.

A neighbor recorded video of flames burning through the roof. A firefighter can be seen in the video being pulled to the street.

Two residents escaped safely before firefighters arrived, family members say.

The cause of the fire isn’t immediately known.
