TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Tucson say five baby cats have been rescued from a storm drain.

The Tucson Fire Department, Pima Animal Care Center and Pima County Department of Environmental Quality participated in the rescue.

Tucson TV station KOLD reports that fire department officials announced the news Saturday night.



First responders arrived at a storm drain Saturday morning near River and Oracle after getting a call about a baby kitten in need of help.

Firefighters accessed the storm drain to find five kittens, estimated at less than a week old.

KOLD says the kittens now are in the care of Pima Animal Care Center.
