EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say four deputies are now on leave after they opened fire at an allegedly armed man during a confrontation in Everett.

The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team says the shooting occurred Saturday night after a woman reported that her 67-year-old husband was beating her and threatening her with a weapon.

As deputies arrived, they say the woman escaped the home.

A probable cause statement says deputies saw the man cocking the bolt action of a gun in a garage and at some point shots were fired, though how many and by whom remains unclear.

The suspect was shot in the leg, taken to a hospital and booked into jail.

The shooting remains under investigation.
