PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Oregon Army National Guard has sent helicopters to Mount Hood to help rescue an injured climber.
Guard spokesman Christopher Ingersoll tells The Oregonian/OregonLive that the helicopters were heading to Oregon’s tallest peak from Salem and Pendleton.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office learned Thursday that a rescue was needed. Steve Rollins of Portland Mountain Rescue says rescuers reached the injured climber Friday morning on the summit plateau.
Video from the scene shows a group of people around the injured climber. The climber appears to be wrapped in a sleeping bag. The extent of the climber’s injury has not been released.
