SOUTHOLD, N.Y. (AP) - U.S. Coast Guard officials say they rescued three boaters who were adrift in the Long Island Sound after their boat got caught in a lobster trap and capsized.
The Coast Guard got a report of a 20-food capsized boat with three people clinging to the hull at around 8 a.m. Friday.
Rescuers located the three people in the water north of Fishers Island and brought them on board a Coast Guard vessel.
The Coast Guard will oversee salvage operations for the capsized boat.
Fishers Island is a small island in the eastern end of the Long Island Sound. It is about 7 miles (11 kilometers) southeast of New London, Connecticut.
