DANVILLE, Va. (AP) — Greg Cullen tripled, doubled and singled, scoring three runs as the Danville Braves topped the Burlington Royals 10-5 on Tuesday.

Zack Soria singled three times with two RBIs for Danville.

Danville batted around in the first inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring four runs, including a two-run double by Carlos Baerga.



Trailing 7-3, the Royals cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Freddy Fermin hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Rhett Aplin.

Danville left-hander Dilmer Mejia (2-2) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings. Opposing starter Randy Acevedo (0-2) took the loss in the Appalachian League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and 11 hits over five innings.

The five extra-base hits for Danville included a season-high four doubles.

In the losing effort, the Royals recorded a season-high five extra base hits. Fermin homered and doubled twice, driving in three runs and scoring a pair for the Royals.
