MERCER, N.D. (AP) - Authorities say a 40-year-old North Dakota woman was killed when she was thrown off a motorcycle that struck a deer and was run over by another motorcycle.
The Highway Patrol says the accident happened just before 1 p.m. Saturday while a group of motorcycles was travelling east on Highway 200 near Mercer.
The patrol says the victim was a passenger on a motorcycle that lost control after hitting the deer. She was pronounced dead at a Turtle Lake hospital.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 42-year-old North Dakota man, was thrown into the ditch. He was airlifted to a Bismarck hospital with serious injuries.
Names of those involved in the accident have not been released.
