ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina say a 12-year-old boy has been shot to death at a public housing complex.

The Asheville Police Department said on its Twitter page that officers responded just after 3 a.m. Sunday to a report of people suffering gunshot wounds at the complex near the downtown area.

The 12-year-old and an 18-year-old man were both taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville, where the younger shooting victim died. Police said the 18-year-old is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither shooting victim has been identified pending notification of relatives. So far, police have made no arrests in the case.
