CHESTER, Va. (AP) - Police do not expect to charge the driver of a pickup truck that fatally struck a 9-year-old girl who was sledding in Virginia last week.

Chesterfield County police spokeswoman Liz Caroon told the Richmond Times-Dispatch on Monday that the investigation is ongoing, but police do not plan to file charges.

The girl was sledding down a driveway in the Richmond suburb on Jan. 4 when she slid into a road and was hit by the pickup truck. Police said in a statement that the driver immediately stopped. The girl was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries.

She has not been identified.
