LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles County health officials have closed a section of Marina del Rey beach after an 1,100-gallon sewage spill.
Beachgoers were advised Sunday to avoid the water 100 yards up and down the coast next to the Ballona Creek outfall.
The Los Angeles Times reports a sewer line blocked by grease caused sewage to enter a storm drain that leads directly into the marina.
It was not immediately clear how long the closure would be in effect.
