NEW HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) - One person has died in an early morning house fire in New Hampton.

Firefighters responded to the scene around 3 a.m. Saturday.

WMUR-TV reports that authorities say a dog and about 100 chickens also were killed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire officials say the freezing trucks and an unplowed driveway made fighting the fire challenging.

The victim’s name has not been released.
