DOVER, Del. (AP) - Gov. John Carney has ended a state of emergency he declared for southern Delaware amid a winter storm that paralyzed parts of the East Coast with blizzard-like conditions.
Carney declared the state of emergency over Friday evening, hours after lifting a restriction on driving for residents of Sussex County, the state’s southernmost county and the one that received the highest snowfall amounts.
Schools across Delaware remained closed for a second day Friday, as well as state offices in Sussex County.
State offices in the other two counties opened Friday at 10 a.m.
A wind chill advisory was in effect for the entire state through Saturday with wind chill predictions as low as 15 degrees below zero (-26 Celsius).
