TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A winter storm has dumped nearly a foot-and-a-half of snow on some New Jersey shore towns.
Spotter reports published by the National Weather Service say 17 inches fell on Cape May Court House by late afternoon.
Bayville and Margate each received 16 inches. At least six towns in Ocean County reported double-digit snow totals.
Snowfall was smaller to the northwest, with areas in Burlington, Mercer, Morris and Somerset counties getting four to five inches.
All state government offices were closed after Gov. Chris Christie reversed his earlier decision to delay opening. The Republican declared a state of emergency for Cape May, Atlantic, Ocean and Monmouth counties.
A blizzard warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. along the shore and for portions of central and southern New Jersey.
