PITTSBURGH (AP) - An apparent gas leak has prompted the evacuation of a day care center in Pittsburgh.

WPXI-TV reports the smell of natural gas was reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. at the University of Pittsburgh’s University Child Development Center.

A university spokesman says two adults were taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital to be evaluated.

About 25 children were transported about a mile away to the Petersen Events Center, where the school’s basketball teams play, to be picked up by their parents.

The day care serves children of staff, faculty and students of the University of Pittsburgh.
