Grassley: Feinstein release of Fusion GPS transcript ‘spooked’ Kushner, other witnesses

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley said Thursday President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner won’t be voluntarily interviewed by his committee and that the committee will release other witness interviews soon.

The Iowa Republican said the release of the transcript with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson by the committee’s top Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California “spooked” Mr. Kushner and other witnesses Mr. Grassley hoped to interview surrounding the meeting in Trump Tower in the summer of 2016 with a Russian attorney.

Since Mr. Kushner won’t be speaking with the committee, Mr. Grassley said the committee’s witness interviews are complete and he would like to release the transcripts of all the interviews that the committee has conducted thus far in its investigation as soon as possible.

“That section of our investigation is done,” he said.

Ms. Feinstein agreed with Mr. Grassley, which suggests the transcripts could be released sooner rather than later.

“I’m very grateful with your decision to proceed, that’s very helpful” Ms. Feinstein said.

Ms. Feinstein unilaterally released the more than 300-page transcript of Mr. Simpson’s closed door interview about his company’s ties to the controversial dossier without consent from the committee chairman earlier this month.

She blamed her action on a “bad cold.”
