Body of missing Coos Bay man found near bay

COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) - The body of a missing Coos Bay man has been found near the North Bend boat ramp.

Coos Bay police say the North Bend Police Department contacted them early Tuesday about officers on the scene of a man who had died.

Coos Bay police identified the man as Willard Dean Canfield, who was reported missing in mid-December.

Police say an investigation found no indications or evidence to suggest Canfield had been a victim of violence or criminal activity or that the death had been a suicide.

North Bend Police Det. Sgt. Buddy Young told the World Canfield may have been homeless.
