MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say one person died in a fire that destroyed a home in Mount Vernon.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports firefighters were called to the home at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday and that once they arrived, they called for additional personnel.

Mount Vernon Fire Chief Bryan Brice confirmed that a body was found in the home.



Brice says an investigation into the fire’s cause and the victim’s identity is ongoing.
