SEABROOK, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire fire officials say one person is dead after a fire destroyed a single-story home.
Firefighters say they responded to the scene Monday afternoon in Seabrook. State Fire Marshal Bill Degnan tells WMUR-TV that typically old structures like the home have poor insulation that could have accelerated the fire.
Degnan says there are also a number of things to look at, and it is too early to tell the cause of the fire.
Firefighters had difficulty fighting the blaze due to the extreme cold, but no firefighters were hurt.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, though officials say it does not appear to be suspicious. Investigators say they are still interviewing witnesses as well as the victim’s family.
