NUTLEY, N.J. (AP) - Police say they rescued a 79-year-old woman after her vehicle crashed through a fence and plunged into the icy Passaic River.

Nutley Township police say the woman was driving in a parking lot Thursday afternoon when she suffered a medical problem and crashed into a parked car. The two cars then crashed through a fence and plunged about 12 feet into the water.

Nutley Police Chief Thomas Strumolo says there were no other injuries.

First responders transported the woman to a hospital, where an update on her current condition was not immediately available.

Officials worked to pull both vehicles from the water and are continuing to investigate.
