President Trump on Friday urged “more Republican victories” as a way to avoid future government shutdowns.
“Government Funding Bill past last night in the House of Representatives. Now Democrats are needed if it is to pass in the Senate - but they want illegal immigration and weak borders. Shutdown coming? We need more Republican victories in 2018!” he tweeted.
The battle for a shutdown moved to the Senate late Thursday when the House passed a temporary spending bill to keep the government open. The deadline for the Senate to act is midnight Friday or else the federal government faces a federal shutdown.
