UTICA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have identified a 7-year-old central New York girl who died in a house fire.

Police in the Utica suburb of Yorkville identified the victim as Taylor Mishlanie. According to WKTV , the girl’s mother, 41-year-old Heather Mishlanie, also was caught in the blaze Thursday night, which broke out in a second-floor apartment and caused the roof to collapse.

The mother was airlifted to Upstate Medical University in nearby Syracuse and was listed in critical condition on Friday.



Fire officials continue to investigate the scene of the fire looking for clues as to how it started.
