HARRINGTON, Del. (AP) - Church members from congregations around Delaware have attended an active-shooter training seminar.

The Delaware State News reported Saturday that the training follows in the wake of church shootings in other parts of the country in recent years.

Church representatives gathered at Harrington Baptist Church in Harrington. Participants focused on developing leadership responsibilities and a response plan. They also discussed the nature of an active shooter.

Dorothy Furnish, of Milford, was among the 50 people who attended the seminar to better secure their churches.

Furnish said church security had been on her mind for a long time. She said the information was “invaluable.” She added: “The Lord said, ’If ye are prepared, ye need not fear.’”
