Fire officials: Man dead after house fire in Poultney

POULTNEY, Vt. (AP) - Officials say a Vermont man died in a house fire in Poultney.

Fire crews were called just before 3 p.m. Monday to the scene, where they found flames engulfing the home and a man lying unresponsive outside the house. The victim, 76-year-old Thomas Beatty, was pronounced dead by officials.

Fire officials say both the death and fire do not appear to be suspicious. Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze.
