OXON HILL, Md. (AP) - A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a man in a crosswalk in the Maryland suburbs of Washington.

Prince George’s County police tell media outlets that authorities found the man at an intersection about 6:50 p.m. Thursday in Oxon Hill.

Police think a white pickup truck that turned left from St. Barnabas Road onto Wheeler Road struck the man. They say the truck had a ladder on the top or one side of the vehicle.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities are working to determine his identity. They describe him as African-American man in his 30s.
