MILWAUKEE (AP) - The state’s largest school district is among the dozens closed as a winter storm causes travel difficulties in southern Wisconsin.

Students in the Milwaukee Public School District have Friday off, as well as those in the Baraboo, Kenosha, Janesville, Whitewater and hundreds of other schools. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee also canceled all classes Friday, when it was supposed to be “Winter Bike to UWM Day.” The university has more than 27,000 students.

Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee County had 21 flights canceled by noon Friday. Forecasters say about 9 inches of snow has fallen in Kenosha with lesser amounts moving north.
