Rep. Mike Quigley denied Monday that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said the unverified dossier was the only means to obtain the surveillance warrants against some members of the Trump campaign.

“Those were not the exact words,” Mr. Quigley, Illinois Democrat, said on CNN.

He said that he couldn’t go further into details since the Democratic memo is still classified, but added that once his party’s memo comes out, it will correct the record.

“Now that their report is out there, our memo has to go out there just to correct what they’ve stated in their short memo,” he said.

Rep. Devin Nunes, chair of the House Intelligence Committee, wrote a memo, which was released last week, based on intelligence they’d received concerning surveillance on members of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign. Republicans argued in their memo that it showed an unverified dossier was used to obtain warrants to collect intelligence on some of the aides.

Democrats, who are pushing to have their memo released this week, say the allegation is based on cherry-picked information from the source documents.

The vote to release the Democratic memo is expected late Monday.
