BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh has created 20 new positions as part of her office’s $8.6 million budget, which exceeds the amount earmarked by previous administrations.
The Baltimore Sun reports the new positions established Wednesday include eight neighborhood liaisons, six media and communications representatives, five homeless outreach workers and a director for the new Office of African-American Male Engagement, which will be held by former mayoral candidate Andrey Bundley.
The Board of Estimates approved the positions unanimously, without discussion.
A spokesman for City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young, Lester Davis, says the positions are designed to better serve the community.
The annual salaries for the new jobs range from $75,000 to $155,000.
The 2018 fiscal year budget for the mayor’s office represents an increase of $1.6 million from last year.
