A Utah Jazz fan received a major assist off the court from his team’s star rookie.
It’s unclear why Jazz guard and NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner Donovan Mitchell follows Josh Buhler on Twitter, but that allowed Buhler to direct message the Rookie of the Year candidate. He had a plan to ask out a crush in his BYU chemistry class but needed help from his favorite player.
@utahjazz utahjazz you drafted 1. An amazing basketball player. 2. A dunk contest champion. 3. The best S(WINGMAN) ever. @spidadmitchell is A good human being. Can’t wait for tonight. #shootersshoot #takenote pic.twitter.com/blpz9gZaUG

The Jazz’s official Twitter account confirmed the story’s legitimacy when it made this comment about the lucky fan:
One of the greatest assists @spidadmitchell has had this season. https://t.co/21tZPW0g4u

Buhler appears to have received tickets for Saturday’s game, which Utah won 97-90 over the Dallas Mavericks.
