CHICAGO (AP) - The executive director of the Illinois Toll Highway Authority is resigning after more than two years with the agency.

The tollway announced Greg Bedalov is leaving the agency on Friday. He is moving on to become the head of the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority.

Bedalov formerly headed the Choose DuPage county economic development group. He started at the tollway in 2015.

During his tenure at the tollway, Bedalov oversaw the start of a $4 billion Central Tri-State Tollway rebuild; the expansion of Route 390, and the launch of a $25 million study on extending Route 53 into Lake County.

Tollway Director Neli Vazquez Rowland says Bedalov has been a “great asset” to the agency. It was not immediately known who would replace Bedalov.
