President Trump will address the nation at 11 a.m. Thursday on the tragic Florida school shooting, the White House said.
A 19-year-old gunman who had been expelled from the high school in Parkland, Florida, opened fire with an AR-15 on Wednesday afternoon, killing 17 people and wounding 14 others.
The president said earlier Thursday that there were “many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior.”
“Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!” the president tweeted.
The alleged gunman, Nikolas Cruz, came to the school with smoke grenades, a gas mask and multiple magazines of ammunition. He has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
Law-enforcement officials say he bought the gun legally about a year ago.
