Jasper, 14, returned to his family’s Annapolis, Maryland, home Wednesday.
The family learned he would need a new heart when Jasper had a physical in August that discovered an abnormally fast heartbeat, and further tests were done. After staying in the hospital for nearly two months and getting a ventricular-assist device implanted, he had to wait another three before a matching organ was found.
Jasper’s body accepted the new heart, as a biopsy this week came back negative and showed no signs of his body rejecting the transplant.
