BRIDGEVILLE, Del. (AP) - Police say heavy rain may have contributed to a fatal car crash in Delaware.

State police say the Sunday afternoon crash on Redden Road in Bridgeville claimed the life of 82-year-old Ernest McBroom of Bridgeville.

According to police, McBroom was driving his Chevrolet pickup truck east when he crossed the center line and hit a westbound Kia minivan.

McBroom was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 66-year-old man was driving the minivan with two children ages 12 and 9 as passengers. All three were treated and released from the hospital.

Police say torrential rainfall may have caused McBroom’s pickup to cross the center line as he negotiated a curve.
