Last weekend, with the infiltration of a drone into Israeli airspace, we saw a blatant and provocative move from the Iranian regime. In response, Israel launched military strikes in Syria. For years now Iran has been expanding its tentacles in the Middle East, and it is only growing stronger.

Iran’s first major victory came in Iraq, where sectarian violence and strife left the country perpetually weakened. As a response, the Shiite leaders in Iraq gladly welcomed their Iranian coreligionists into their sphere of influence. And once the Iranians came in, so did their weaponry. And these tools of war were used against American troops, adding additional casualties to our servicemen and -women.

As political instability continued to plague Lebanon, the Iranian proxy group Hezbollah strengthened its position to the point that it now basically controls that small country. Hezbollah is not only a threat to Israeli security, but to the entire region.

The Obama administration did the world a great disservice by pushing through the Iranian nuclear deal. The flaws in the agreement are great and numerous, and clear Iranian violations of its terms have already been observed. Yet the world does nothing. When President Trump voices his disapproval of the so-called agreement, the Europeans, wishing to maintain trade links and lucrative deals with Iran, are quick to rush to defend the mullahs in Tehran. This disgusting capitulation only serves to strengthen Iran, and in turn dooms the entire Middle East. It is time for the global community to say enough is enough.
