IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Iowa City’s annual Freeze Fest - which brings activities from ice fishing to practicing winter survival skills - is underway this weekend.

The festival is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. Activities include outdoor education activities, crafts and recreation. There will also be a hot cocoa bar and marshmallow roasting.

There is no fee to participate. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

This year’s festival promises to live up to its name, with the National Weather Service forecasting below-zero wind chills and light snow.
