WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Two men have been arrested after an investigation into the sale of counterfeit sports hats at liquor and tobacco stores across Delaware.

Lt. Kevin Jones, a spokesman for the state Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement, says distributor Lizard Sunwear was found to have been selling the illegal hats to stores without a license to conduct business in the state.

Police confiscated a total of 2,321 hats valued at over $27,500.

Jones says officers noticed a large number of suspected counterfeit professional sports team hats during a routine January inspection.

Jones says Derrick Andricola, of Turnersville, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with trademark counterfeiting. Jones also says Richard Petty, of Malvern, Pennsylvania, was charged with felony trademark counterfeiting over 1,000 items.
