SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Utah Department of Transportation is installing freeway signs that will make it easier for drivers to identify where they are along the road when calling for aid thus helping to reduce response times for emergency crews.
KSL-TV reports work crews will install 692 blue signs over the next two weeks in three different sections of the Salt Lake Valley. The sections are Bangerter and I-80, I-80 and I-215 ramps, and the area known as the Spaghetti Bowl.
The pilot program costs $500,000. If it works well, the Utah Department of Transportation will add more signs across the state where it makes sense.
All signs for the pilot program should be installed by Feb. 15.
