OPINION:
Young children brought to the United States, legally or illegally, have little to say in the matter. So “Dreamers” didn’t just pack up their knapsacks and wade across the Rio Grande; their parents brought them here. Many Dreamer supporters like to remind us incessantly that we cannot blame these children for their parents’ actions (knowingly violating the law and placing their children in legal jeopardy). Liberals’ mantra on this matter seems to be “As a country, we can’t blame these children for what their parents did.”
With this in mind, how are we to treat the unborn in our country? Are they not also innocent of any wrongdoing? I’m no medical or biological expert, but I’m quite certain the unborn child had nothing to do with his or her conception. The father and mother made that happen. If we, as a nation, can’t blame the Dreamers for their parents’ actions, how can we so callously and violently blame the unborn and continue to allow them to be punished (killed) through abortion?
When supporters of the Dreamers tell us that “these kids know no other home,” I would remind them, the only home an unborn child has is his or her mother’s womb.
