LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - State police say two people have died in a wrong-way crash on a Massachusetts highway.
Police say four vehicles were involved in the crash shortly before noon Wednesday on Interstate 495 northbound at the Andover-Lawrence line.
Police say for reasons still under investigation, a woman driving a vehicle south on the highway crossed the median into the northbound lanes, sideswiped a pickup truck, then struck a Honda Pilot head-on before striking a third vehicle.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, a 38-year-old Lawrence woman, died. A passenger in the Pilot, a 56-year-old Lawrence man, also died. Three other people were injured.
No names were released.
All northbound lanes of the highway were closed during the investigation.
