HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police in Connecticut say they confiscated a stun gun modified to look like a phone from an 11-year-old girl at a Hartford elementary school.

Hartford police say the student was suspended and referred to juvenile court on charges she brought the functional device to McDonough Middle School on Thursday. The Hartford Courant reports the stun gun is designed to look like a smartphone, and is activated by a button on the side of the device.

The device was confiscated morning by school security officers.



The girl and her guardian were issued juvenile summons.
