RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - State health officials say 10 people have died of the flu in North Carolina for the 2018-2019 season so far.

The N.C. Division of Public Health reports one person has died in five of the 12 week of the season, which began Oct. 1 and runs through March 31.

Officials say eight of the 10 victims were aged 65 and older. The other two were in the 25-to-49 age group.



For the same period last season, there were 15 deaths. The season ended with 391 deaths, which set a modern day record.
