BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont community is rallying behind a family who lost their home in a Christmas Eve fire.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports Lisa Lofting led a donation drive Wednesday for her high school classmate, Heidi Barrows. Barrows’ Marlboro home was destroyed in a fire Monday night.
Lofting says strangers have stopped in with cash and clothing donations. She expects to receive donations from bingo players and Toys for Kids as well.
Barrows two younger sons are ages 9 and 12. Her older son and his girlfriend lived in the home as well.
Marlboro Fire Chief David Elliot says fire marshals couldn’t determine a cause for the fire Wednesday. Officials say the blaze was the second fire at the home in recent years.
