CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - A quick-thinking father saved his family from a quick-moving fire by walking them out onto a second-story porch, and knocking on the window of a neighbor.
WPVI-TV says Victor Ammanzar got his 5-year-old out of the house in Camden overnight but saw his wife and baby didn’t follow. He ran back in to save them, and the three were trapped by flames on the second floor.
He led his wife and their baby out a front window and walked along a porch to the next-door neighbor. She tells the news station she was shocked to hear a knock on her bedroom window and was even more so when she saw a man handing her a baby.
The family went into the neighbor’s home and all of them fled, as the fire was quickly spreading down the block.
The family’s dog died in the blaze.
