OPINION:
After listening to an interview given by Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia saying that President Trump will be abusing his power if he pardons Michael Cohen, a former business partner, I couldn’t help but think there is a double standard regarding violation of our laws.
As a former law enforcement officer in both police and corrections, I can assure all that no one wants to be locked up, losing their freedom. Having said that, I wonder if former President Obama was guilty of abuse of power. He pardoned former Attorney General Eric Holder in the Fast and Furious debacle that got our boarder agent killed. He lied to the public about the Benghazi attack in which Ambassador John Stevens and his detail were slaughtered, saying it had all been over a video. He colluded with Hillary Clinton and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice to perpetuate this lie, and prior to his second election, on an open mic, patted Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on the leg and asked for “space” until after the November elections so he could deal with the missile-defense issue Russia didn’t like.
One of Mr. Obama’s biggest betrayals (and, I dare say, acts of treason) was giving a reported $150 billion to Iran, a sworn enemy that by all accounts supports terrorists around the world that kill Americans. Yet somehow no one has brought up this collusion with a foreign power.
From my perspective, lying to the feds is wrong — but getting someone killed because of deceit is a bigger crime that should have been investigated. Those guilty of this crime should have been brought to justice.
