ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Recreational boats will continue to travel toll-free on the New York State Canal System.
The system’s board of directors on Tuesday approved the continued waiver of tolls for recreational vessels through the 2021 season. The tolls - which range from $25 to $100 - have been waived since 2017.
Tolls will continue to be collected for commercial vessels on the 524-mile system.
Canal officials say motorized pleasure boat traffic system was up 3 percent last year.
The 2019 canal season will run from May 17 to Oct. 16.
New York’s canal system includes the Erie, Champlain, Oswego and Cayuga-Seneca canals.
